Derrick Inspection
Technics Risk Services Inspectors are qualified for API 4G Drilling Structure Inspections and provide a unique solution for the inspection of your Derrick,
Mast and Substructure, professionally supporting the industry with the standard to move forward and further improve the safety statistics of
Derrick related incidents.
Masts and Derricks support enormous loads when drilling and running casing. API recommended practice for Mast and Derrick inspections is a
critical element to avoiding potentially non-productive time or even serious incidents and catastrophic events during drilling operations or
following rig reactivation.
A good business model based on regular inspection and repair of Mast and Derricks is an important long-term risk reduction strategy as
Derrick & Mast related incidents still contribute to an unacceptable amount of oil rig accidents.
Hence a qualified categorization has been developed and recommended for implementation comprising:
- Development of a Derrick inspection guide and check sheets for each of the defined areas
- Development of a comprehensive ‘As is’ equipment check list
- Identification of the location of individual equipment
- Provision of marked-up drawings supplemented with annotated photographic images
- Check lists clearly outlining non-conformances
- Check lists used as the basis for pertinent comments during subsequent inspections
